Dead Man Working Carl Cederstorm and Peter Fleming have strong opinions regarding capitalism and how corporations are slowly taking over the world. Everyone is living in inequality and they don’t even know it. Corporations have so many things to distract everyone and make everyone apathetic about the real problems going on in society. We are living in a society where rich people keep getting richer and everyone else stays where they are. Corporations are demoralizing workers and turning them into a robot. For example, in a biographical essay by Rob Lucas, he talks about how even in his sleep, he is thinking about his work as a computer programmer. Privately owned corporations are taking over society and making workers’ lives meaningless, joyless, and hopeless. In other words, capitalism is turning everyone into dead men working. Workers today are people who exist between life and death because everyone lives in a â€Å"repetitive loop of work and consumption.† Workers no longer have a passion for what they do. Workers go to work to earn money, and then use that money to buy things for their kids or spend it on holidays. Jobs today tell you to be yourself, but in reality, they only say that to sou nd nice. As soon as you start the job, you have to transform into a whole another person to fit their criteria. That is why workers today are people between life and death. Workers are physically there, but they are all mentally gone. Capitalism had created the circumstances that maker worker’s lives so meaningless, joyless, and hopeless. Capitalism has turned workers into their job. It has transformed everyone from a person to a thing. Every worker is known by their job and is their job. Every worker adapts and loses their self-identity for a job. In our everyday life, we compensate many things to get over the sense of â€Å"death† or desperation.
